20 Hot Tips to Succeed as a Blogger – Tip 13: Get to know your Readers!
We all are generally more interested in ourselves and naturally tend to get more intimate with people that care much more about us. You can exploit this natural tendency and use it to your advantage as a blogger, to achieve wide success.
If I must tell you, every blog reader/visitor is pretty selfish to some extent; they are firstly and most importantly visiting or frequenting your blog because of what they’ll get out of the blog. If they aren’t getting anything back from investing their precious time into visiting and interacting with your blog, then they’ll not stay around the blog a long time.
Also, readers feel more confident and encourage interacting with a blogger they are so sure, cares about them and is always willing to help; in one way or the other. It’s human nature. Even, if your contents are not outstanding, many will rather stick around to offer advice and suggestions on how you can serve them better, because they know how passionate you are about them.
So, like I said in an earlier part of this series, the set of readers that make your blog tick, are your; Loyal Readers. They are the one you can always count on, they are the ones that will subscribe to your mail list, and they are the ones that will buy your ideas whenever you converted them into products. They’ll stick around you and help to get your blog up the success ladder.
If they are that crucial to your success, wouldn’t you do well having a way to convert every of your visitors to loyal readers? Or wouldn’t it be superb to build a personal relationship with your loyal readers? Of course you should and that’s why I’m sharing this tip with you.
I know this may sound like something so simple that every blogger should know, why? Because, it’s common sense, but of course common sense is not common, which is why many bloggers get swept away by the desire to make money that they easily forget about the need to build relationship with their readers. That, I’ll say can be a great limitation to your success as a blogger. I found out that it’s even one of the reasons why so many blog readers remain lurkers.
For instance; wouldn’t it be easier convincing your intimate friends to come and watch your game and trust that they will surely come, than convincing and trusting those that are probably just your colleagues at work. The same applies online. Sometimes, we seem to think that everything on the internet is totally different from offline, but that’s not true in all cases.
Getting to know your readers will also give you a great opportunity to be able to know what will interest them and what they are expecting from you through their several feedbacks. And also remember that the only way you can get honest feedback is when you build worthy relationships with your readers. Make them feel belong and then they’ll begin to see your blog as a friend’s property, which they’ll be willing to contribute to its success.
4 Tips To Build a Better Relationship With Your Readers
- Now, the first step toward building a worthy relationship with your readers is having a well written about page, with a picture of yourself. Blogs with many contributors or writer can also have a page containing the profile of all the contributors or staff.
- Also, try and get to know what your readers are up to themselves and make sure to get involve and help them as much as you can. Imagine you came over to my blog and make a comment and the next day you got on your blog to discover a wonderful comment I also made at your blog, wouldn’t you feel cool getting back to my blog to make more comments or get more involved with my blog? You sure will.
- Take the comments, suggestions and questions of your readers very seriously; make sure you attend to them like you’ll treat one from a blossom friend of yours.
- Get your readers involved in some important personal decision both for your blog and for yourself. This will help to foster the communication between you and your readers, for instance; the blog design, feature, etc.
Final Thought
As you have seen the important and benefits of getting to know, building a worthy relationship with and helping your readers/audience, can never be over emphasis. In fact, it’s the main ideas behind all the millions of free resources that we all enjoy around the blogoshere these days. So, it’s a trick that will guarantee you great blogging success. True as hell. Everybody is in it for something. Nobody visits your blog just for visiting sake. If you ain’t offering them what they’re looking for they’ll move away. I must confess it can be quite a daunting task getting emails and the occassional phone calls from folks wanting more info on making money online. I always do my best to offer the best answer possible and as such they’ve actually stuck around my blog and have referred people to it.
It really can’t be very challenging but the satisfaction that comes with having your readers stuck around you is all that matter eventually.
