Freedom of the press?Online is very different from the offline, where you can just throw up your shop on a highway and customers will easily find you. Online, you have to get out and help customers find you. Else, your competitors will not allow them to.

Over the pass few weeks I have been sharing with you proven tips and trick that can make you a successful blogger, and today I’m sharing another very crucial factor that can either make or mar your success as blogger. And it has to do with TRAFFIC; the life-wire of every blog/website.

Like I said in the introduction, online is a lot different from offline and so you have to get out there and help readers find your blog, market and promote your blog every single opportunity you get. Don’t be passive, don’t be shy about promoting your blog, be seriously active about it. You want traffic isn’t it? Then get out there and give it all your best.

Hey! Just because I said you should get seriously active about your blog promotion doesn’t mean you have to get into SPAMMING. I want to critically point out that, infact the first thing you should get terribly familiar with is SPAM, that is; if you haven’t already. I’m sure you know how you feel when you open your email inbox to discover those annoying worthless series of emails. Now, you wouldn’t want to be the one getting people annoyed, would you? SPAMMING it counter productive and gets you into internet black-book.

With that out of the way, I’ll like to share with you some free but highly effective means to promote your blog. Remember, you only get result with your blog promotion campaign when you get really active with it, being passive will only make these means to seem not effective and as a matter of fact they don’t work for the passive promoters.

11 Proven Ways To Promote Your Blog

1. SEO – Get your blog index by the major search engines, get your on-page optimization in top gear, get to work with your off-page. Etc

2. Article Marketing – Write and submit well optimized articles relating to the topic of your blog to the major article directories. Some of the top ones are; ezinearticle.com and goarticle.com.

3. Guest Posting – Write guest posts for other blogs, especially those that are very popular.

4. Commenting on other blogs – Always make sure to leave an insightful comment on other blog you read.

5. Forum Participation – Join forums related to the niche of your blog and get active. Add your blog address to the website space in your profile and also in your forum signature.

6. Facebook – Facebook is currently the leading social network site, so join and begin to build some large amount of friends, fans and admirers.

7. Twitter – Microblogging is said to the future of blogging and I don’t think you want to be left out. Twitter is the leading microblogging site and infact you just must join and begin to build your list of followers that you can share your blog post with.

8. Stumpleupon – Talking about a place to discovered what’s new then stumpleunpon is the place to be. Infact I have discovered that the site is actually capable of bringing massive and instant traffic to your blog if you work well with it, but what I noticed is that the bounce rate is kind of high.

9. Newsletter – If you have a list, create a way to always notify you list each time you added a new blog post. If, you are the type that writes several posts a day, then you might want to make one in a week. If you don’t have a list, get an autoresponder and begin to build your list. The top ones are Awebar.com, Getresponse.com and iContact.com.

10. Viral Marketing – Write a free ebook or report, video/audio or software and give away free. Just make sure you have away to append your blog address or a link to sign up for you newsletter.

11. Email Signature – Add you blog address, or a link to a very popular post on you blog to you email signature and it will be automatically appended to ever email you send out using that email address. You could also create a vacation email, which just a short message informing your contact that you have got their message and will get back immediately you read the message but in the meantime they could also get at: your blog address.

One word is all I have for you here; no matter how superb your blog design is, no matter how insightful or thought provoking you blog contents are, they are worthless if nobody gets to see and read them. So, GET OUT AND DO SOME PROMOTION!
