This entry is part 18 of 19 in the series 20 Hot Tips to Succeed as a Blogger

threesixtyfive | day 244The worst thing you can do to yourself as a blogger is becoming impatient or desperate. I know that sounds kind of brutal but, I just want to make it less attractive to you as much as possible, because I’ll be glad if that will get you off that track.

If there’s anything I have learned all through my adventure into the world of blogging, it is that it takes time. Success comes; one thing at a time. Just like the analogy Darren Rowse used in one of his post 9 First Step Goals for New Bloggers, about his little boy’s adventure with his first steps towards a full freedom in walking. Rome they say was not built in a day.

Also, one thing I have discovered that can be very detrimental to the success or progress of any blogger is that of been desperate about achieving a certain milestone with his blogging activities.

Still, I remember reading Darren in an interview, talking about the negative effect of using back handed means to try to convince your readers to perceive you as what your are not. He said even though it sounds ridiculous, he’s seen many bloggers doing it. I couldn’t agree more with that myself. What I really want to bring out from this last reference is that; what I’m talking about here now is what is responsible for many of those cases. It’s lame but the saddest thing is that, it’s going to be hard for a blogger that has allowed himself/herself get to that level, to easily see the negativity in that strategy.

You’ll certainly agree with me that, people get to the state of desperation, by starting to push themselves too much. I know how it feel when you are not getting the result you desire or you believe you should be getting but, the way out is for you to take a break and get back to the drawing board, like the professionals will say. You probably are wondering where I’m going with this and the point I’m trying to bring out from today’s tip. It’s simple and I’ll just let it out in the simplest form I can. Here it comes; pushing yourself too much drives you to become desperate and desperation is simply and in most/all cases counter productive.

So, if what you’re aiming at as blogger is success and then you get desperate along the line, it simply mean what you will end up with is probably failure, because we all agreed that desperation is counter productive.

How Not To Get Desperate.

I hope you can still remember the what I shared with you in one of the previous part of this series that you should; monitor, track and analyze. If you have been diligently doing that, it’ll be easy for to know if you have actually grew to the level of what your desires are before you began to get desperate about the result.

You’d also be able to know that has been you bottlenecks and the way to tackle them. Also, concentrate on the “DRIVER” of your desired result and not the result itself. That sounds deep really, so I’ll just like to explain it more with an analogy. Let’s take for instance in a Tennis game, we know that what the players are fighting for is the “SCORE BOARD”, because that’s what tells who is winning. But of course, the score board itself can do nothing for a player. It’s just the result of what the players are doing on the “PITCH”.

What do you think will happen to a player that instead of concentrating on his/her game is rather concentrating on the score board and looking at the score board? Well the answer to that is glaring.

So as you can see, what “DRIVES” the score board is what the players are doing on the pitch, not the score board itself and that of course, is the “DRIVER”, of the VICTORY the players are fighting for.

Final Thought

The steps to becoming successful in blogging is like building a house; you get a land, survey the land and get a building plan, lay a solid foundation, and begin to build. It takes sometime; you just can’t build it in a day. I know this is not what very many people love to hear, but there’s juts no shortcut to it. If there were, trust me, I’ll be one of the first on that part.

P.S: I know this post must have inspired some thought in your mind, I’ll love to hear them, so please drop me a comment. You might also have one or two advice to add, please go ahead, it would make a difference.

To Your Blogging Success.
